Disney Cruise Bahamas
English version at end of post ¡Todos a bordo! Les traigo un nuevo #FarFromBA. En esta oportunidad, en uno de los cruceros donde los sueños suelen cumplirse. Bienvenidos a #DisneyCruiseLine Estoy muy contenta porque a diferencia de otros viajes, este lo pude hacer en familia y disfrutarlo junto a las personas que más quiero.
Fue nuestra 1º vez en un #crucero, así que estábamos dentro de la categoría de "principiantes", llenos de dudas, ansiedad y mucha ilusión.
Antes de adentrarme en la ruta que hace este crucero en particular, voy a contarles algúnos tips generales y útiles para cualquier crucero que puedan hacer:
👉 Llegar con suficiente tiempo. Cuanto antes embarquen más rápido comienzan a disfrutar de los servicios a bordo. Lo mismo para desembarcar. Si les interesa aprovechar cada minuto, asegúrense de bajar primero. 👉 Pertenencias importantes siempre a mano Además de los documentos (que es una obviedad) cuando despachan la valija quédense con una muda de ropa (traje de baño) y medicamentos importantes, ya que no van a encontrarse con su equipaje hasta varias horas después de abordar, cuando lo acercan a su camarote. 👉 Wifi Cuando estén navegando, desactiven el roaming por más de que su plan lo incluya (el roaming suele ser para tierra). Lo activan en cada puerto. Si necesitan wifi en altamar, seguro el crucero venda packs de internet. Para sacar mejor provecho de ese pack que seguro sea caro (Disney cobra USD 90 por el pack unlimited de 1000 Mb. A mí eso me duró 3 días), activen y desactiven el "modo avión" para usarlo sólo cuando lo requieren y que dure lo máximo posible. 👉 Guarderías Si viajan con chicos, el sistema de guardería es importantísimo. La mayoría suele ser de 3 años en adelante y están cubiertas en la estadía que pagaron. Disney también ofrece una guardería de 6 meses a 2 años que se paga aparte (USD 9,00 por hora). 👉 Salud Lo más importante es que lleven Dramamine para atender posibles mareos. Recuerden que siempre es mejor tomarlo en tierra. Por otro lado, y quitando los medicamentos personales que cada uno pueda necesitar, los barcos cuentan con centros de salud donde pueden atender casos como fiebre/vómitos/cortes/infecciones pero no son hospitales. Los casos importantes se atienden en tierra, aunque son los menos frecuentes. 👉 ¿All Inclusive? La mayoría de las cosas están incluidas (comidas, gaseosas y recreación) pero otras como internet, bebidas con alcohol o guarderías para infantes, no. 👉 Ubicación dentro del barco Lo mejor es estar en las habitaciones del medio porque son las que menos se ven afectadas al movimiento (inevitable) del barco (por eso suelen ser las más caras). En cuanto a elegir con/sin balcón, si se puede, no duden elegir con balcón. Es un pequeño paraíso privado que permite mirar la luna, estrellas, mar y atardeceres/amaneceres en todo momento.

Empezamos por su geolocalización y ruta marítima, ya que Disney ofrece varios cruceros entre USA y Europa que recorren diferentes destinos.
Desde BA volamos directo a Miami (9 hs) y lo más recomendable es hacer base un día completo para aclimatarse en tierra, luego de estar en el aire varias horas y antes de navegar en el mar.
Nuestro vuelo llegó a las 6 am y zarpamos al día siguiente a las 17 hs. Abordamos el barco al mediodía luego del check-out en el hotel y almorzamos dentro el crucero. ¿abordaron 5 horas antes de zarpar? Sí, el check-in del crucero se habilita desde temprano y es en tandas organizadas previamente en el web-check. Uno se tiene que acercar en el turno que le corresponde.
El Disney Magic zarpa desde de Miami Downtown y recorre Bahamas. Puntualmente KeyWest, Nassau y Castaway Cay que es la isla privada de Disney.
Son 5 días navegando. El primer y último día son sin paradas ni bajadas.
Paso a mostrarles un poco el barco para que puedan darse una idea de las instalaciones.
El crucero tiene una capacidad para 2900 personas. Para que la tripulación pueda atender a la perfección a todos los pasajeros abordo, previamente hacen un análisis de cuantos niños, adolescentes o adultos están registrados y se organizan en consecuencia para que todos se sientan cómo en casa.
De hecho, hay 5 personas asignadas a cada familia (entre limpieza y gastronomía) que se ocupan de las necesidades específicas y los acompañan durante toda la travesía.
El interior es un lujo. Pisos alfombrados y perfumados. De fondo siempre se escuchan canciones que han sido grandes clásicos de Disney y uno se encuentra inevitablemente cantando todo el tiempo.
El barco fue diseñado especialmente para Disney y las necesidades de las familias que abordarían.
Por eso en los camarotes está divido el inodoro de la ducha, por ejemplo. Respecto de los niños, creo que entran hasta 4 personas por habitación y hay cama cucheta en esos casos. Nosotros pedimos cuna pero si fuera un niño más grande, arman una cama el sillón (en el servicio de limpieza nocturno) y corren la cortina para generar 2 ambientes.
Hay 10 restaurantes divididos en: buffet, a la carta, sólo para adultos, bares, discotectas, etc.
Además cuenta varios puestos de snacks saludables y no tanto (fruta, sandwich, pizza, helado, etc)
Hay 3 piscinas: Para niños, para adolescentes y para mayores de 18 años. Están acompañadas de toboganes y pantallas que proyectan películas constantemente a modo de cine a cielo abierto.
Cruzarte al capitán Mickey como cosa corriente es de las grandes sorpresas que me guardo en mi memoria. Los personajes de Disney y Marvel se pasean como tripulantes normales y en realidad son verdaderos rockstars que viven sacándose fotos con las personas que les piden.
Los lugares de recreación están cuidados en cada detalle y el personal que supervisa las áreas es excelente. Los niños están felices y de hecho es difícil ir a retirarlos de las guarderías. Es decir, están jugando con Mickey o IronMan, mamá y papá no tienen nada que hacer ahí!
La gastronomía es muy buena y si necesitan algo que no está en el menú, ellos con gusto te lo cocinan. Si de niños se trata, siempre van a estar un paso adelante. PERO si necesitaran una comida específica para toda la travesía, es necesario avisarlo antes de abordar (al momento del web check-in).
Otro tema es que los desayunos y almuerzos son en el restaurante buffet pero las cenas son a la carta y se organizan en los diferentes restaurantes en 3 turnos (6 pm, 7 pm y 8 pm).
Es importante bajarse la App que te va mostrando todas las actividades qué hay cada 15 minutos y al marcar las que te interesan, te manda una alerta para que no te olvides de asistir.
Ahora sí, les muestro un poco las diferentes islas que conocimos.
Las paradas suelen ser de 7 u 8 horas (llega a las 8:00 am y zarpa a las 17 hs) Hay quienes bajan primeros para poder recorrer todo con tiempo y también están los que ni bajan del barco porque aprovechan las instalaciones cuando más tranquilas están, con menos gente.
Nosotros no dudamos en bajar a explorar. Además, ¿cuándo volvería a pisar KeyWest o Nassau si no es ahora? La vida es una y hay que aprovechar cada oportunidad.
Dato: No se olviden bajar con pasaporte, tarjeta de embarque y cash para manejarse en tierra (suelen ser islas que manejan efectivo).
1º PARADA: KeyWest
Una isla muy pintoresca y las playas se concentran sobre todo en el lado sur de la isla, frente al Océano Atlántico. South beach es la favorita de los lugareños.
Es un lugar ideal para pasear, comer Key Lime Pie (postre autóctono) preferentemente en Kermits (un clásico de KeyWest) y llevarse algún souvenir de la comercial avenida Duval St.
Es relativamente urbana: asfaltada y con comercios de todo tipo (Desde Wallgreens hasta Banana Republic, Gap, HyM, etc.)
Me encantó este tren como medio transporte. Pero predominan las bicis, motos y carros de golf.
2º PARADA NASSAU
La segunda parada fue la capital de Bahamas.
Acá es fundamental saber a qué playa vas a ir para no perder tiempo, ya que seguramente tengas que tomarte un taxi de 15 minutos (USD 4 por persona) para llegar a las más concurridas y/o turísticas como "Paradise Beach" o la playa del hotel "Atlantis".
En cambio, Si sos de los que prefiere algo más tranquilo y local, caminando 10 minutos llegas a "Jukano Beach", que tiene algunos pequeños locales enfrente para poder tomar algo al paso.
Nosotros nos inclinamos por Paradise Beach y alquilamos una sombrilla por USD10 todo el día.
3º PARADA: CASTAWAY CAY
Última parada. La Isla privada de Disney. WOW.
Este Cayo lo tiene todo. Además de poder cruzarte con los personajes de Disney paseando en bermudas y remeras hawaianas, la isla está dividida en sector adultos y sector familias con reposeras y sombrillas todo incluído (incluso la barbacoa del almuerzo y los snaks).
Por razones obvias nos quedamos en el sector de familias donde disfrutamos de toboganes de agua en el medio del mar, juegos en tierra como ping-pong o metegol y patio de comidas con campeonato de tasting al "El mejor Mojito".
Además se pueden alquilar bicis, set de snorkel o tubings para flotar en el mar. Creo que cualquiera puede coincidir en que es injusto partir a las a las 17 hs en pleno atardecer, ya que la isla amerita quedarse hasta la noche y celebrar el cierre con una fiesta en la playa y fuegos artificiales. Ojalá tomen esta sugerencia y a futuro haya una Castaway Party.
Wind-surf. Otro de los tantos deportes que ofrece la isla además del snorkel y buceo. Dato: A los que se animen a bucear, les cuento que hay estatuas de Mickey y Minnie sumergidas en el fondo de mar (no muy profundo) ¡A ver si as encuentran!
Antes de partir, hicimos foto familiar para que quede siempre este recuerdo en nuestro albúm. Cada viaje nos enseña algo, nos hace derribar prejuicios y nos obliga a conocernos más. Viajar es la mejor escuela. #DisneyMagic fue una grata sorpresa para nuestro debut en cruceros. Sin dudas, conocer #Bahamas de la mano de Disney fue mágico.

El último día puede parecer eterno en un barco pero no lo es. De hecho, es el mejor momento para aprovechar a visitar todos esos rincones que, por las bajadas a las islas, uno no llega a conocer: cines, obras tipo Broadway, Spa, discoteca, pubs y, no menos importante, la fiesta final en altamar con shows y fuegos artificiales.
Si hay que elegir una foto de cierre que lo resuma todo, es esta. Sentirse un niño otra vez es algo que sólo Disney logra y eso... no tiene precio.
Últimas conclusiones a partir de consultas que me hicieron durante el viaje
¿Lo recomendarías?
Sin dudas. Para algunos bolsillos puede ser un poco caro en comparación a otros cruceros que existen (Este cuesta USD1500 por persona), pero creo que el de Disney amerita el ahorro y la planificación. Ellos se aseguran de hacer valer cada centavo que pagaste y van a estar en cada detalle para que disfrutes al máximo, seas un niño, un adolescente o un adulto.
¿Qué época recomendas para viajar?
Yo viajé en febrero y el clima estuvo increíble. (min 20ºC y max 30ºC) aunque confieso que el mar estaba fresco. Quizás septiembre sería un mejor mes para tener temperatura agradable en todos lados. Lo que sí, no olviden llevar un buzo/sweater para protegerse del AACC del crucero.
¿Es apto para adultos aunque no tenga hijos?
Super apto. De hecho, dicen que es de los mejores del mercado y, de nuevo, uno logra conectar con su niño interno al ver a sus grandes ídolos de la infancia paseando por ahí. Lo que sí, hay que estar predispuesto a estar rodeado de niños en los lugares comunes del barco (que no sean exclusivos de adultos). Pero en mi opinión, es parte de la magia. He visto nenas llorar al abrazar a su princesa favorita y nenes extasiados por poder hacer una pijamada con Pluto. Imposible no emocionarse.
¿Dónde se contrata?
¿Recomendarías aprovechar para quedarse unos días en Miami?
Si no fuera por compromisos laborales, no hubiera dudado en quedarme 4 o 7 días más en Miami disfrutando un poco las playas y haciendo algo de shopping. Fundamental que esto sea post-crucero porque en el caso de hacer compras, contemplen que los camarotes del barco son acotados, es clave navegar con lo justo y necesario para estar cómodos en la habitación (la valija se coloca debajo de la cama para que no ocupe lugar)
¿Te mareas mucho?
La verdad es que yo no soy de marearme y estuve bárbaro. El barco es muy estable.
Sí reconozco que hubo una noche, mientras cenábamos, que el barco se movió bastante y mi marido (que es de marearse) la pasó mal y tuvo que tomar dramamine.
Por último, es de esperar que una vez que toquen tierra sufran "mareo de tierra", que básicamente es sentir que uno sigue navegando, con un mareo leve, que puede durar 24 hs a 1 una semana máximo. Cada cuerpo es diferente.
Este último Mareo lo sufrimos los 3 en BA. (Mi marido, mi hija y yo)

DISNEY CRUISE LINE BAHAMAS

On this occasion, on one of a cruise where dreams are usually fulfilled.
Welcome to #DisneyCruiseLine
It was our 1st time in a #cruise, so we were in the "beginner" category, full of doubts, anxiety and a lot of enthusiasm.
Before getting into this particular cruise, here are some general and useful tips for any cruise you can do:
👉 Arrive with enough time. The sooner you embark the faster you begin to enjoy the services on board. The same happens to disembark. If you are interested in taking advantage of every minute, be sure to get down first.
👉 Important belongings always with you In addition to the documents (which is a no-brainer) when you leave your suitcase, keep a change of clothes (swimsuit) and important medicines, since you will not meet your luggage until several hours after boarding, when you approach your cabin.
👉 Wifi When you are sailing, disable roaming for more than your plan includes it (roaming is usually for land). You can activate it in each port. If you need Wi-Fi on the sea, for sure the cruise sells internet packs. To take advantage of this pack (that is sure to be expensive) activate and deactivate the "airplane mode" to use it only when you require it and to make it last as long as possible.
👉 Nurseries If you travel with children, the daycare system is very important. Most are usually 3 years and older and are covered in the stay you paid. Disney also offers an infant care from 6 months to 2 years that is paid separately (USD 9.00 per hour).
👉 Health The most important thing is to bring Dramamine to deal with possible dizziness. Remember that it is always better to take it on land. On the other hand, and apart from the personal medicines that each one may need, the ships have health centers where you can attend to cases such as fever / vomiting / cuts / infections but they are not hospitals. Important cases are dealt with on land, although they are the least frequent.
👉 All Inclusive? Most things are included (meals, sodas and recreation) but others, such as the internet, alcoholic beverages or infant crèches, do not.
👉 Location inside the boat The best thing is to be in the middle rooms because they are the ones that are least affected by the (inevitable) movement of the ship (which is why they are usually the most expensive ones). As for choosing with / without balcony, if you can, do not hesitate to choose with balcony. It is a small private paradise that allows you to look at the moon, stars, sea and sunsets / sunrises at all times.

Lets start with its geolocation and maritime route, since Disney offers several cruises between the US and Europe that travel different destinations.
From BA we fly directly to Miami (9 hours) and it is best to make a full day base to acclimatize on land, after being in the air for several hours and before sailing in the sea.
Our flight arrived at 6 am and we set sail the next day at 5:00 pm.
We boarded the cruise at noon after check-out at the hotel and had lunch inside the cruise.
Did you boarded 5 hours before sailing? Yes, the check-in of the cruise is enabled from early morning and it is in batches previously organized in the web-check. You have to approach in your own turn.

The Disney Magic sails from Miami Downtown and runs through the Bahamas. Punctually KeyWest, Nassau and Castaway Cay which is the private island of Disney.
It is a 5 day sailing trip. The first and the last day are without stops.
(In my photos you can see the cruise and some of its facilities).
The cruise has a capacity for 2900 people. So that the crew can perfectly attend all passengers on board, they previously make an analysis of how many children, adolescents or adults are registered and they organized accordingly to that so that everyone feels at home.
In fact, there are 5 people assigned to each family (between cleaning and gastronomy) that take care of the specific needs and accompany them throughout the journey.
The interior is amazing Floors carpeted and well scented. As soundtracks you always listen to songs that have been great Disney classics and you inevitably find yourself singing all the time.
The boat was designed especially for Disney and the needs of the families they would board.
Regarding the children, I think there are up to 4 people per room and there is a bunk bed in those cases. We ask for a crib but if it were a bigger child, they arm the bed (in the night cleaning service) and run the curtain to generate 2 rooms.
There are 10 restaurants divided into: buffet, à la carte, for adults only, bars, discotheques, etc. It also has several positions of healthy snacks and not so much (fruit, sandwich, pizza, ice cream, etc)
There are 3 swimming pools: For children, for teenagers and for those over 18 years old. They are accompanied by slides and screens that constantly project films as open-air cinema.
Crossing Captain Mickey as an ordinary thing is one of the great surprises that I keep in my memory. The characters of Disney and Marvel walk like normal crew members and in reality they are real rockstars who live taking pictures with the people who ask them to.
The places of recreation are taken care of in every detail and the staff that supervises the areas is excellent. The children are happy and in fact it is difficult to go to remove them from day care centers. I mean, they're playing with Mickey or IronMan, mom and dad have nothing to do there!
The cuisine is very good and if you need something that is not on the menu, they will gladly cook it for you. If you are dealing with children, they will always be one step ahead. BUT if you need a specific meal for the whole trip, it is necessary to warn before boarding (at the time of the web check-in).
Another issue is that breakfasts and lunches are in the buffet restaurant but dinners are a la carte and organized in different restaurants in 3 shifts (6 pm, 7 pm and 8 pm).
It is important to download the App that shows you all the activities that are every 15 minutes and when you mark the ones that interest you, it sends you an alert so you do not forget to attend.
Now, here is a hint of the different islands we met.
The stops are usually 7 or 8 hours (arrives at 8:00 am and sets sail at 5:00 pm) There are those who go down first to be able to explore with time and there are also those who do not get off the ship because they take advantage of the facilities when they are calmer, with less people.
We did not hesitate to go down to explore. I mean, When would I step on KeyWest or Nassau again if it is not now? Life is one and you have to take every opportunity.
Fact: Do not forget to get off with a passport, boarding pass and cash to drive on land (they are usually islands that handle cash).
1st STOP: KeyWest
A very picturesque island and beaches are concentrated mostly on the south side of the island, facing the Atlantic Ocean. South beach is the favorite of the locals.
It is an ideal place to walk, eat Key Lime Pie (native dessert) in Kermits (a KeyWest classic) and take a souvenir from the commercial Duval Avenue St.
It is relatively urban: paved and with shops of all kinds (from Wallgreens to Banana Republic, Gap, HyM, etc.)
I loved this train as a means of transportation. But bikes, motorcycles and golf carts predominate.
2nd STOP NASSAU
The second stop was the capital of the Bahamas.
Here it is essential to know what beach you are going to go to so you do not waste time, since you will surely have to take a taxi / bus of 15 minutes (USD 4 per person) to reach the busiest and / or tourist destinations such as "Paradise Beach" or the beach of the hotel "Atlantis".
On the other hand, if you prefer something quieter and more local, walk 10 minutes to "Jukano Beach", which has some small shops in front of you so you can have something to take away.
We lean towards Paradise Beach and rent an umbrella for USD10 all day.
3rd STOP: CASTAWAY CAY
Last stop. The private island of Disney. WOW
This Cay has it all. In addition to being able to cross with Disney characters walking in Bermuda shorts and Hawaiian t-shirts, the island is divided into adult sector and family sector with all-inclusive lounge chairs and umbrellas (including the lunch bar and snacks).
For obvious reasons we stayed in the family sector where we enjoyed water slides in the middle of the sea, games on land such as ping-pong or table tennis and food court with championship tasting the "The best Mojito".
In addition you can rent bikes, snorkel set or tubings to float in the sea. I think that anyone can agree that it is unfair to leave at 5:00 PM in the middle of the sunset, since the island deserves to stay until the night and celebrate the closing with a party on the beach and fireworks. I hope they take this suggestion and in the future there is a Castaway Party.
Wind-surfing Another of the many sports offered by the island in addition to snorkeling and diving. Fact: Those who dare to dive, there are statues of Mickey and Minnie submerged in the bottom of the sea (not very deep) Let's see if you can find them!
Before leaving, we took a family photo so that this memory always remains in our album. Each trip teaches us something, makes us break down prejudices and forces us to know each other more. Traveling is the best school.
#DisneyMagic was a pleasant surprise for our cruise ship debut. Undoubtedly, knowing #Bahamas by the hand of Disney was magical.
The last day may seem eternal on a ship but it is not. In fact, it is the best time to take advantage of visiting all those corners that, because of the descent to the islands, you do not get to know: cinemas, Broadway shows, Spa, disco, pubs and not least, the final party in High seas with shows and fireworks.
Last conclusions from your queries during my trip
Would you recommend it?
Without a doubt. For some pockets it can be a bit expensive compared to other cruises, but I think that Disney deserves savings and planning. They make sure that every penny you paid is worth it and they will be in every detail so you can enjoy yourself to the fullest, whether you are a child, a teenager or an adult.
What month do you recommend to travel?
I traveled in February and the weather was amazing. (min 20ºC and max 30ºC) although I confess that the sea was cool. Maybe September would be a better month to have nice temperature everywhere. Important: do not forget to take a sweater with you to protect yourself from the AACC of the cruise.
Is it suitable for adults even if you do not travel with children?
Super suitable. In fact, people say that it is one of the best in the market and, once again, you manage to connect with your inner child when you see your great childhood idols walking around. Though you have to be well predisposed to be surrounded by children in the common areas. But in my opinion, it's part of the magic. I've seen little girls cry when hugging their favorite princess and kids thrilled to be able to make a sleepover with Pluto. Impossible not to get overwhelmed.

Would you recommend taking a few days to stay in Miami?
If it were not for work commitments, I would not have hesitated to stay 4 or 7 more days in Miami enjoying the beaches and doing some shopping. Important that this is post-cruise because in case of shopping, please remember that the cabins of the ship are bounded, it is key to sail with just the necessary to be comfortable in the stateroom (suitcase is placed under the bed).
Did you get very dizzy?
The truth is that I'm not used to getting dizzy. Also, the boat is very stable. Yes, I admit that there was a night, while we were having dinner, that the boat moved a lot and my husband (who is used to getting dizzy) had a bad time and had to take dramamine. Last but not least, it is expected that once you touch land you can suffer "Land Dizziness", which is basically to feel that you are still sailing, with a slight dizziness, which can last 24 hours to 1 week max. Each body is different. This last Dizziness we suffered in BA. (My husband, my daughter and me)
