#FarFromBA: San Petersburgo
English Version at end of post Rusia es mucho más que el Mundial de Fútbol 2018 y en esta edición de #FarFromBA les cuento sobre mi paso por el país más grande del mundo. También les comparto tips a quienes estén por visitar la ciudad de San Petersburgo.
Este año Rusia está en la cresta de la ola gracias al #Mundial que está a punto de comenzar en el mes de junio y mueve miles de turistas. El Ente de Turismo de San Petersburgo me invitó, junto a un grupo de periodistas, a conocer la ciudad y así poder oficiar de voceros sobre los puntos más emblemáticos y espectaculares que ofrece esta increíble ciudad.
Antes de adentrarnos en lo que fue mi recorrido, les comparto un poco de info básica sobre Rusia:
Rusia es el país más grande del mundo.
San Petersburgo es conocida como la "Venecia del Norte".
Depende tu nacionalidad, podés necesitar Visa. Para los argentinos no es requerida.
Se habla ruso y escriben en cirílico pero estudian inglés y podés manejarte perfectamente en ese idioma, aunque muchos pueden ser reacios a usarlo. Lo mejor es saludar siempre con un "Privet" (Hola).
La moneda oficial es el Rublo (62 Rublos = USD1). Podés conseguir Rublos en el aeropuerto, en los cajeros automáticos o en las casas de cambio (yo usé el Wester Union que está dentro del hotel Renaissanse).
Los inviernos son muy largos y los veranos muy cortos. La mejor época para ir es entre mayo y septiembre, siendo los mejores meses julio y agosto.
Existe un fenómeno llamado "Noches Blancas" en alusión a las noches más cortas del año donde oscurece a las 22 hs y amanece a las 2 am (en el mes de Julio)
Si visitas San Petersburgo, la mejor forma de trasladarse del aeropuerto "Pulkovo" a la ciudad es en Taxi (1200 rublos / USD20) y dentro de la ciudad, lo mejor es el subte (45 RUB).
Los taxis conviene pedirlos por alguna app. Tomarlos en la calle suelen salir 3 veces más caro. Uber también es una alternativa pero hay “pica” con los taxistas (igual que sucede en nuestro país).
Un chip internacional para mi celular en el aeropuerto con internet ilimitado me costó USD16 (se los recomiendo). Se conservan los contactos y el número de WhatsApp argentino.
Se aceptan todas las tarjetas de crédito pero con American Express puede haber problemas.
Son muy apegados a las normas. Si no quieren pasar un mal momento, sólo tienen que cumplirlas. Aman la puntualidad (algo que los argentinos desconocemos jaja atenti con eso).
Rusia es un país seguro, no suele haber arrebatos ni mayores episodios de inseguridad.
El régimen gubernamental es el democrático. Durante años reinó la dinastía Romanov hasta que un movimiento socialista derrocó al último Zar. 70 años más tarde, con un nuevo levantamiento del pueblo, se instaló el régimen democrático (aunque muchos lo llaman irónicamente "cleptocrático" en referencia a que por tanta corrupción, hace 24 años dirige el mismo presidente).
Rusia es un estado Laico. Sin embargo la Ley del Parlamento establece 4 religiones: La Iglesia Ortodoxa Rusa, el Judaísmo, el Islam y el Budismo. Además es de uno de los países con más ateos y agnósticos del mundo (por haber sido un estado socialista).
Les recomiendo hospedarse en la zona de casco histórico para tener a pocos pasos las principales atracciones y la avenida comercial Nevsky.
El mercado 24 hs "Spar Express" será su mejor aliado para compras de último minuto.

Vistas de San Petersburgo desde Mapyca Ha Kpiwe
La ciudad fue fundada por el Zar "Pedro El Grande", quien se inspiró en Amsterdam (Holanda) para construirla (llena de canales).
Una actividad obligada es la de navegar por sus ríos y obtener la vista panorámica de la ciudad desde las aguas abiertas. (Ticket del paseo en barco 700 RUB. Mejor horario: el atardecer)
La arquitectura es fascinante, simétrica y prolija con calles perfectamente limpias.
No los voy a hacer scrolear mucho más en este post para llegar a uno de los puntos más emblemáticos de la ciudad. La postal que todos queremos conseguir. La "Iglesia del Salvador Sobre La Sangre Derramada". El nombre se debe a que esta Iglesia se erigió simbólicamente sobre el lugar donde el Zar Alejandro II fue asesinado.
Los puestos que están en esta zona son excelentes puntos para conseguir souvenirs, siendo las Matrioshkas (nuestras Mamushkas) un clásico de todos los tiempos (1000 RUB aprox) y los vendedores están abiertos al regateo (lleven cash).
INFO UTIL sobre la Iglesia:
Abre todos los días (excepto los miércoles) de 10:30 a 18:00 hs.
La entrada cuesta 250 RUB. Menores de 18 años 50 RUB y menores de 7 años gratis.
Se llega con la línea 2 del metro, estación Nevsky Prospect.
Un imperdible es el Museo Hermitage (fue la residencia oficial de los Zares).
Según el Libro Guinness es la pinoteca más grande del mundo, abarcando obras de arte de todos los estilos y épocas. También es uno de los museos más largos del mundo y fue elegido por lo viajeros como uno de los 5 mas espectaculares.
Aunque no sean amantes de los museos, les juro que este te deja con la boca abierta, sólo por el hecho de estar dentro de semejante palacio, mientras se absorben nuevos conocimientos.
La entrada se puede sacar online o en boletería (700 RUB)
El primer jueves de cada mes, la entrada es libre y gratuita.
Abre de martes a domingo de 10:30 a 18 hs.
Hay audio guías en varios idiomas
Recorrerlo entero puede llevarte todo el día pero el promedio de visita es de 3 hs.

Respecto de las excursiones en las afueras de San Petersburgo (1 hs de viaje):
1) PETERHOF ("La casa de Pedro")
Es un palacio donde pasaba sus veranos el Zar "Pedro El Grande" (fundador de San Petersburgo).
Su arquitectura y diseño de jardines están inspirados en el famoso Palacio de Versalles (en París). Peterhof es el lugar más visitado de todo Rusia.
Algunos datos útiles sobre Peterhof:
Está ubicado a 30 Km de San Petersburgo en el Golfo de Finlandia. Se puede acceder en Ferry, en Subte, Bus o en Auto.
Abre todos los días de 9 a 19 hs (los sábados hasta las 22 hs). El ticket cuesta 30 Euros y puede comprarse online o en boletería. Se pueden alquilar audioguías en Inglés.
Lo más lindo que tiene son sus jardines y fuentes. La fuente más importante es la de Sansón (abriéndole la boca a un león) que representa el triunfo de Pedro El Grande sobre Suecia y así funda la "nueva" (hoy "ex") capital de Rusia: San Petersburgo.
Las fuentes sólo funcionan en temporada estival, y al ser lo más vistoso de la excursión, entre abril y septiembre colapsa de gente.
Recorrer el Palacio lleva 1 hora aproximadamente y los jardines otra hora más (o quizás 2, según cuánto se quiera ver).
Los jardines están llenos de "bromas" con agua (ojo que pueden terminar empapados) ya que a Pedro le encantaba reírse de sus invitados.
2) El Palacio de Catalina
También con una hora de viaje, se accede a este palacio ubicado en Pushkin, que fue residencia de verano de los Zares y es de estilo rococó con un hermoso y amplio jardín estilo francés.
Volviendo a la ciudad de San Petersburgo y cruzando el río (del otro lado del casco histórico) nos encontramos con "La Mezquita de San Petersburgo" es imponente. Vale la pena visitarla.

Datos útiles para el mundial:
Ticket oficial se vende 31.000 RUB (USD500). Aún quedan pocas vacantes.
Fan ID: Te registrás y solicitás el pase + beneficios en www.fa-id.ru
Luego en esta otra web www.ticket.transport2018.com tramitás la reserva de traslados gratuitos (si no lográs hacerlo online se puede resolver fisicamente en las boleterías).
Lo bueno del tren es que se evitan las demoras en las fronteras/aduanas porque el papeleo se realiza arriba del tren durante el viaje de 3 hs.
El mundial Empieza y termina en Moscú.
Hay centro de reservas hoteleras para los "paracaidistas" y centro de consultas sobre ruedas "ask Me" en los puntos más turísticos (hablan inglés y tiene internet en su computadora)
El subte de esta ciudad es el más profundo del mundo. El ticket puede pagarse con tarjeta o cash.
Comida típica Rusa en el restaurante Vodograi:
Ensalada rusa (la posta jaja) , Zharkoe: guiso de pollo verduras y Bliny: Crep con frambuesa

El grupo argentino de periodistas que viajamos a San Petersburgo en la 1º foto. En la 2da foto estoy exponiendo sobre #TEBA en la conferencia que organizó el Ente de Turismo de la ciudad.
Gracias a una larga escala en NYC, pudimos bajar a darle una vuelta a la Gran Manzana
El lugar elegido para hacer base fue el hotel @Gansevoort , en el Meatpacking District.
Un lujo poder compartir la experiencia junto a @BuenosAires.AR y @ArgentinaYelMundo
Paseando hasta altas horas de la noche y fotenado como a nosotros nos gusta (quizás ellos se cebaron un poco más jaaa con 8ºC y sin dormir, se fueron al puente de Brooklin para fotografiarlo vacío. Yo los abandoné después del café de las 4 am post Time Square).
No puedo estar más feliz de haber vivido esta experiencia y poder compartírselas a ustedes por acá. Como les dije por Instagram, gracias a su apoyo es que estoy donde estoy, y nada me hace más feliz que saber que viajan conmigo a la distancia.
También me llevo grandes compañeros de viaje y me refiero al grupo de periodistas que viajó con nosotros. Nos reímos mucho entre todos y me dejaron el mejor de los recuerdos ¡Gracias a todos!

#FarFromBA: St. Petersburg
Russia is much more than the 2018 World Cup and in this #FarFromBA edition I introduce you to the biggest country in the world. I also share tips for those who are about to visit St. Petersburg.
The Tourism Organization of St. Petersburg invited me, along with a group of journalists, to get to know the city and thus be able to serve as spokespersons on the most emblematic and spectacular points that this incredible city offers.
Before going into what was my journey like, here I share a little basic info about Russia:
Russia is the largest country in the world.
Saint Petersburg is known as the "North Venice".
Depending on your nationality, you may need a Visa. For Argentines it is not required.
Russian lenguage is spoken and Cyrillic alphabet is written. Even though they study English language, many citizens may be reluctant to use it. You always want to say hello in russian with a "Privet"
The official currency is the Ruble (62 Rubles = USD1). You can get rubles at the airport, at the ATMs or at the exchange houses (I used the Wester Union that is inside the Renaissanse hotel).
The winters are very long and the summers are very short. The best time to visit Rusia is between May and September, the best months being July and August.
There is a phenomenon called "White Nights" in reference to the shortest nights of the year where it darkens at 10 pm and dawns at 2 am (in July)
If you visit St. Petersburg, the best way to get from the "Pulkovo" airport to the city is by Taxi (1200 rubles / USD20) and within the city, the best transport is the subway (45 RUB).
Taxis should be ordered by an app. Take them on the street usually go 3 times more expensive. Uber is also an alternative.
An international chip for my cell phone at the airport with unlimited internet cost me USD16.
All credit cards are accepted but with American Express there may be problems.
They are very attached to the rules. If you do not want to have any trouble, you just have to fulfill them. They love punctuality (something that we Argentines do not know, lol)
Russia is a safe country, there are usually no outbursts or major episodes of insecurity.
The governmental regime is democratic. For years the Romanov dynasty reigned until a socialist movement overthrew the last Tsar. 70 years later, the democratic regime was installed (although many call it ironically "kleptocratic" because of so much corruption, the same president has been directing this country for 24 years).
Russia is a Lay State. However the Parliament Law establishes 4 religions: The Russian Orthodox Church, Judaism, Islam and Buddhism. It is also one of the countries with the most atheists and agnostics in the world (for having been a socialist state).
I recommend to stay in the historic town area to have the main attractions nearby and the more next to the Nevsky Ave. (comercial avenue), the better.
The 24 hour market "Spar Express" will be your best ally for last minute purchases.
About the Hermitage Museum
It was the official residence of the Tsars.
According to the Guinness Book, it is the world's largest picture museum, encompassing works of art of all styles and epochs. It is also one of the longest museums in the world and was chosen by travelers as one of the 5 most spectacular.
If you are not fond of museums, I swear this will take your breath away. Just for being inside such a palace, while absorbing new knowledge, is priceless.
The ticket can be purchased online or at the box office (700 RUB). The first Thursday of every month, admission is free and It opens from Tuesday to Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
There are audio guides in several languages.
The whole tour can take you all day but the average visit is 3 hours.
About PTERHOF (PTER´S HOUSE)
It was the Tsar "Peter the Great" (founder of St. Petersburg) summer palace.
Its architecture and garden design are inspired by the famous Versailles Palace (in Paris). Peterhof is the most visited place of Russia.
It is located 30 km away from St. Petersburg in Finland Gulf. It can be accessed by Ferry, subway, bus or car.
It opens every day from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. (Saturdays until 10 p.m.). The ticket costs 30 Euros and can be purchased online or at the ticket office. Audio guides can be rented in English.
The most beautiful thing are its gardens and fountains. The most important fountain is Sanson´s fountain (opening a lion mouth) representing the triumph of Peter the Great over Sweden and thus founds the "new" (today "ex") capital of Russia: St. Petersburg.
The fountains only work in summer season, and since they are the most attractive thing of the tour, it can get very crowded between April and September.
Touring the Palace takes about 1 hour and the gardens another hour (or maybe 2 hs, depending on how much you want to see).
The gardens are full of "water jokes" (watch out!) since Peter loved to laugh at his guests.
About the World Cup
Official Ticket cost 31,000 RUB (USD500).
Fan ID is required: You may register and request the pass + benefits at www.fa-id.ru
Then you must enter www.ticket.transport2018.com to process the free transfer reservation (if you can not do it online you can manage it at the ticket offices).
The good thing about the train is that the delays at customs are avoided because the paperwork is done on the train during the 3 hour trip.
The World Cup begins and ends in Moscow.
There is a hotel reservation center and "ask me" wheeled query center in the most touristic points (they speak English and have internet on their computer)
Thanks to a large stop over at NYC, we were able to go down to the Big Apple.
The place chosen to spend the night was the @Gansevoort hotel, in the Meatpacking District.
I loved to share the experience with @BuenosAires.AR and @ArgentinaYelMundo, walking until late at night and taking photos as we like.
I can not be more thankful to have lived this experience and be able to share it with you guys.
