¿Qué prefieren turistas y porteños? La famosa y controvertida plataforma Uber llegó a Buenos Aires y causó un revuelo que promete no ser el último.
Para algún despistado, Uber es la aplicación que ofrece un servicio de transporte privado. Lo que hace es poner en contacto a los usuarios registrados en la App con los conductores de autos que se inscribieron para ofrecer el servicio.
Algunas consideraciones: es más económico que el taxi tradicional y a la hora de pagar se debita de la tarjeta de crédito del usuario inscripto, siendo más seguro, ya que se evita el intercambio de efectivo.
¿Cuál es el problema?
En principio, que no cumple con todos los requisitos que le son solicitados a los taxis (licencia profesional y licencia del taxi, exámen psicofísico y curso de seguridad vial). Quienes se manifiestan en contra, explican que es una competencia desleal y que se atenta contra el trabajo, sin cumplir los requerimientos legales.
En Buenos Aires no hay materia regulatoria sobre este tema. Durante el primer día que el servicio estuvo activo, cientos de taxi bloquearon las calles de la ciudad para expresar su rechazo.
Dicho esto, ¿Qué prefieren los turistas y hasta los propios porteños?
Todo indicaría que hay gran aceptación por parte de la gente. En el país se inscribieron más de 18.000 personas y crece día a día. La experiencia en otros países ha demostrado que ambos servicios pueden convivir perfectamente, sin embargo, en otros países (como en Francia) se han prohibido.
El tiempo dirá que ocurrirá en nuestro país....

What is the best option for tourists and locals? The famous and controversial platform UBER was launched in Buenos Aires and is in the heat of the moment.
FYI: UBER is the app that offers a private transportation service by keeping in touch users registered in the APP with the drivers inscripted.
Benefits: it is more economical than a taxi and it only operates with passenger's credit card registered in the system, which in some way is safer as no cash is required.
Drawbacks: It does not comply the same regulatory requirements (professional license and psychological and physical exams, for instance) than taxis. Those who are against claim that it is an unfair competition and it threatens their source of employment by not meeting those regulations.
Moreover in our city there is no legislation on this issue. In the very first day the service was active hundreds of taxi drivers blocked the streets to express their disagreement.
All in all, what do citizens and tourists prefer?
It is said that there is a high acceptance by people. In Argentina there are more than 18,000 drivers registered (and still counting). The experience in other countries, unlike France (forbidden), has shown that both services can live together.
Time will tell whether UBER is a success or not..
