Buenos Aires es considerada por muchos países la capital cultural de Latinoamérica y una de las más importantes del mundo.
La tradición teatral y literaria sumado a los festivales, conciertos, museos, exposiciones, centros culturales y expresiones artísticas de diferente género y estilo son un gran atractivo para quien viva o este de visita en la ciudad.
A la hora de explorar BA, tengo que confesar que los museos no son mi primera opción y escapan a mi lista de imperdibles. Me inclino más por festivales o ciertas expresiones artísticas que me llamen la atención.
Traté de encontrarle la vuelta a esta falencia que les acabo de contar y me di cuenta que cuando combino los museos que tienen un pintoresco café dentro del lugar para conocer, termino disfrutando mucho el programa.
Lo mismo me pasa con los centros culturales donde puedo apreciar su arquitectura o su vista panorámica, como pasa con el CCK o la Usina del Arte.
Al margen de mi gusto personal, si los museos o centros culturales son una parada obligatoria en tu agenda, te dejo mis 5 elegidos con una breve referencia y sus horarios de apertura para que tomes nota.
1º MALBA
El Museo de Arte Latinoamericano es el primero que se me viene a la mente cuando pienso en esta temática. Quizás porque es el más moderno, siempre anfitriona de "la expo del momento" y disfruto mucho del café que tiene en su interior. En el 2016 sorprendió con dos intervenciones artísticas que fueron un éxito en la entrada del edificio (y totalmente gratuitas). La punta del Obelisco (ahora se encuentra en la Usina del Arte) y la Bailarina Sentada de Jeff Koons. Ojalá sigan fomentando este tipo de muestras. El Malba combina un calendario de exposiciones temporales, con la exhibición estable de su colección institucional. Dirección: Av. Pres. Figueroa Alcorta 341. El Museo abre de lunes a domingo de 12 a 21 hs (martes cerrado). El café abre todos los días de 8 a 20 hs.
2º MNBA
El Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes es uno de los más importantes de América Latina, por su exponencial arquitectura y el valor de su colección permanente. Exhibe obras de figuras de la talla de El Greco, Goya, Picasso, Rembrandt, Rodin y Cándido López. Además es totalmente gratuito. Dirección: Av. del Libertador 1473. Abre de martes a domingo de 12:30 a 20:30 hs.
3º MAMBA
El Museo de Arte de Moderno de Buenos Aires fue reciclado, conservando su arquitectura original de 1918, que antiguamente perteneció a la fábrica de cigarrillos “43”. Comprende fundamentalmente la producción argentina contemporánea de artes plásticas entre 1940 y 1960. Es un buen cierre para cuando estes recorriendo el barrio de San Telmo. Dirección: Av San Juan 350. Martes a Domingo de 11 a 19 hs
4º Museo Evita
Guarda grandes tesoros testimoniales. Dentro de las colecciones, se destacan las piezas de indumentaria y accesorios, prendas personales que pertenecieron a Eva, una de las figuras argentinas más reconocidas a nivel internacional. Pero mi recomendación principal radica en su pintoresco cafecito Pet friendly. Dirección: Lafinur 2988. Martes a Domingo de 11 a 19 hs (el café abre de 9 a 00 hs)
5º Museo Nacional de Arte Decorativo
Los objetos de arte del Palacio Errázuriz Alvear conforman la colección permanente del Museo Nacional de Arte Decorativo, que además cuenta con muestras transitorias de colecciones privadas y obras de artistas contemporáneos. Vale la pena visitar un verdadero palacio estilo francés y terminar el paseo tomando algo en su coqueto cafecito "Croque Madame".
Dirección: Av. del Libertador 1902. Abre de martes a domingo de 14 a 19 hs. El café abre todos los días de 10 a 00 hs.

Bonus Track: CCK
El Centro Cultural Kirchner fue definido por la gran mayoría como una joya arquitectónica. Además es el más grande de Latinoamérica. Un espacio dedicado a las artes plásticas, espectáculos musicales y exposiciones. Hace poco tuve la suerte de conocerlo y les recomiendo que se den una vuelta. Tiene una terraza con vistas únicas de Puerto Madero y microcentro.
Dirección: Sarmiento 151. Abre de martes a domingo de 12 a 20 hs, con visitas guiadas.

Una vez al año, las calles de Buenos Aires se visten de fiesta en "La Noche de los Museos".
Todos los museos, centros culturales y galerías de arte, quedan abiertos de forma gratuita hasta la madrugada.

Five top museums
Buenos Aires is considered the best country in terms of culture in our continent and one of the most important around the world. The literary and theatrical tradition along with the variety in festivals, concerts and museums are a more than interesting attractive for those who live or visit our city.
When exploring BA I must admit, to your dismay, that museums are not on top of my list. In fact I am really fond of festivals or certain artistic expressions, which usually catch my eye.
I tried to solve this situation and I found out that eventually I enjoy the visit when I end up my visit drinking a coffee in their coffee shop. The same situation can be applied to venues where I am awed by its design or its panoramic view, such as in the CCK or Usina del Arte.
Apart from my personal taste, if you are looking for museums or cultural venues, I will provide a brief description of my five top museums. I hope this will be useful and, as usual, I'm looking forward to your feelings in our social networks.
1º MALBA
The MALBA [Museum of Latinamerican Art of Buenos Aires] is the first museum that comes to my mind. It may be because it is the trendiest, permanent host of "trendy exhibition" and also because I love its coffee shop. In 2016 MALBA shocked the the public opinion with two exhibitions (both for free): the top of the Obelisk (now at Usina del Arte) and the Seated Ballerina by Jeff Koons. I hope they keep promoting this type of exhibitions.
Malba mixes a calendar of temporal and permanent exhibitions of their private collection.
Address: Avenida Figueroa Alcorta 341. The museum is open from Monday to Sunday from Midday to 9PM (Closed on Tuesdays). Its coffee shop is open every day from 8Am to 8PM.
2º MNBA
The Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes [National Museum of Fine Arts] is one of the most well-known in Latin America, both for its architecture and the value of its collections. It exhibits paintings of El Greco, Goya, Picasso, Rembrandt, Rodin and Cándido López. Furthermore It has free access.
Address: Avenida del Libertador 1473. It is open from Tuesday to Sunday from 12:30PM to 8:30 PM
3º MAMBA
The Museo de Arte Moderno de Buenos Aires [Museum of Modern Art of Buenos Aires] was restored, in order to keep its original design from 1918, which formerly belonged to the cigarette company "43". In this museum you will find mostly the work of Argentine artists from 1940 to 1960. It is a nice ending should you be near San Telmo.
Address: Avenida San Juan 350. Open from Tuesday to Sunday from 11AM to 7PM
4º Museo Evita
The mecca of any peronist or anyone seeking for Eva Perón legacy. This museum stands out for showing personal belongings of Eva, one of the most recognized women of Argentina in the world. There are also guided visits and a huge library. I must admit that I fell in love with its beautiful pet friendly coffee shop.
Address: Lafinur 2988. From Tuesday to Sunday (11AM to 7PM). The coffee shop is open from 9AM to midnight.
5º Museo Nacional de Arte Decorativo The art treasures from Palacio Errázuriz Alvear are part of the permanent collection of this museum, which also is host of temporary art exhibitions of private collections and also the works of contemporary artists. It is a really interesting experience to visit a truly French style palace and end the journey having a coffee at the chic "Croque Madame".
Address: Avenida del Libertador 1902. It is open from Tuesday to Sunday (2PM to 7PM). The coffee shop Croque Madame is open from 10AM to midnight every day.
Bonus Track: CCK The formerly called Centro Cultural Kirchner (nowadays known as CCK) was praised by the vast majority as an authentic architectural jewel. It is a multipurpose venue as you can enjoy plastic arts, musical performances and exhibitions. I was able to visit CCK and I would define it as outstanding. It is an absolute matter of pride as It is the biggest in the continent. It has a lovely terrace which allows you to fall in love with Puerto Madero and Downtown.
Address: Sarmiento 151. It is open from Tuesdays to Sundays (12PM to 8PM). There are guided visits.

Once every year the streets of Buenos Aires are geared up for "La noche de los museos" [The museum's night]. Every museum and gallery of art are open for free up to dawn.
